Cooling Distribution System
SFF Distribution Nozzle
The key to thermal performance is how well the water is distributed over the cooling tower’s fill. The more evenly the water covers the fill, the more cooling takes place. Critical to proper water distribution is the design of the nozzles. Ecodyne has designed its own counterflow cooling tower nozzles – each specifically suited to work best with film pack, splash fill or in conversions.

Since good water distribution is the key to any cooling tower performance, our design includes practical components that will work even in the naturally adverse conditions of a crossflow tower. Distribution pipes, valves, basins, and nozzles are reviewed by engineering to insure reliable coordination with the heat transfer system. Our patented clog-free nozzles provide uniform water flow even when particulates infiltrate the cooling water system.

Cooling Drift Eliminators

Ecodyne Cooling supplies PVC/CPVC constructed Drift Eliminators. The cellular design and sinusoidal shaped corrugations of the drift eliminators allow for three direction air flow changes, giving effective removal of entrained moisture with minimum air resistance. Drift eliminators are available in a variety of spans, corrugations and gauges and although the recent generations of DE’s are more efficient, some of the legacy DE’s, such as Hi-V DE’s and their equivalent may still be available. For new or retrofit applications Ecodyne Cooling utilizes Addax Duralite™ and other manufacturer’s composite drive shafts. Addax DuralitetTM drive shafts, introduced in 1987, were the first advanced composite couplings used in the cooling tower industry. Since their introduction, Addax™ drive shafts have been installed in fans, pumps, and marine propulsion systems around the world. Addax™ products are designed, manufactured, and tested by the largest and most experienced coupling manufacturer in the world. Some of the features of Addax Duralite™ drive shafts include:

Ecodyne Bottom Discharge Crossflow Distribution Flow Control Valve
Dump Valve
Ecodyne Limited has acquired the tooling to build the Ecodyne bottom discharge flow control valve.
This unique valve has a 16” outlet located on the bottom centerline of the distribution header with a vertical stem and operating handle exiting the top centerline of the distribution header. The installation
features a low distribution head and the bottom disc ensures an even 360 degree horizontal discharge. The valve is sized by pipe diameter in the following sizes; 18”, 24”, 30”, 36”, 42”, 48”, 54” and 60”. Materials are selected for the tough environment of the cooling tower and features stainless steel hardware and stems, “Ni-Resist” cast iron castings and fiberglass bottom discharge body. Complete valve assemblies and individual parts are available upon request.

Single and double reduction cooling tower gears. Gear replacement parts. Right angle spiral bevel gear reducers, belt drives, and sheaves. Amarillo A Series direct drop-in replacement for Marley speed reducers.

Ecodyne Cooling offers a wide variety of direct, drop-in replacement gears for any make or model of cooling tower or air cooled condenser. We feature Amarillo Gears, a sister company whose gears meet or exceed all CTI and AGMA requirements and have been used for over 30 years in the cooling tower industry. All of our gears and our suppliers’ gears meet CTI and ISO 9000 quality and regulatory requirements. We have CTI-standard gear selections for both 50 and 60 cycle power sources.
Our replacement gears are specially-designed to match existing bolt-down patterns. If any of our gears does not match a particular pattern, we can create special adapter plates. Some of the brands we most commonly work with include:
